Waiting

Frozen souled she stood under the tree

A cat in the shade waiting

One hand dangling - string played

The other clawed into the bark - blood marked

Heart burning through bone waiting

One hundred eighteen days gone by

Cirrus to nimbus to star filled to cloudless

Time was seamless

Cut from the deafening silent song of eternity waiting

Thawed and rosy souled, she loosens her jaw

The sound of autumn leaves underfoot

Life lit, sun warmed and whistle tunes

Behind her he comes with the migration of birds

From the cold death of winter waiting
